New Orleans to Baton Rouge car service: the drive, the timing and the cost
For meetings at the Capitol, LSU game days, plant visits and MSY arrivals headed upriver: how the trip works and how it's priced.

Baton Rouge is close enough for a day trip and far enough that the drive matters.
The state capital is about 80 miles up I-10 from New Orleans. For a meeting at the Capitol, a game in Tiger Stadium or a visit to the plants along the river, many people would rather spend that hour and a half working, resting or talking than driving. Here's how a chauffeured trip between the two cities works.
01 The drive
- Distance and time About 80 miles from downtown New Orleans to downtown Baton Rouge on I-10: usually 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, more at rush hour. From MSY, about 65 miles and roughly an hour.
- The slow spots Traffic often builds near the Bonnet Carré Spillway bridge, through the I-10 / I-12 split and, above all, at the I-10 Mississippi River bridge in Baton Rouge at rush hour. We plan departure times around them.
- Weather Heavy rain slows the whole corridor. On stormy days, we build in extra time for anything with a fixed start.
02 Who makes this trip
Government business Meetings at the State Capitol and state agencies, especially during the legislative session. See government transportation.
Industry visits Executives and engineers visiting plants and offices along the river corridor between the two cities.
Fly into MSY, work in Baton Rouge MSY has far more flights than Baton Rouge's airport, so many travelers land in New Orleans and drive up.
LSU families and fans Move-in, graduation, parents' weekends and home games in Tiger Stadium.

Groups Delegations, wedding parties and teams moving together in one Sprinter van.
03 How it's priced
Our flat airport rates cover trips within 25 miles of downtown New Orleans. Baton Rouge is farther, so the trip is billed at the vehicle's hourly rate for the time the car is committed, including the chauffeur's drive back, with the vehicle's minimum. The booking page shows the exact total before you pay.

04 One way, or a day there
Coming back the same day? There are two ways to book it, and the better one depends on how long you'll be there. Two separate one-way trips each include the chauffeur's drive back, so together they come to about 6 hours of vehicle time. Keeping the car for the day costs the same for a short visit, and more for a long one.
A short visit, keep the car: a three-hour meeting in Baton Rouge plus the drive each way is about 6 hours, around $750 in a sedan. That's the same as two one-way trips, and the car is waiting the moment you're done.
A full day, book two trips: pickup at 7:30 a.m. and meetings until 3? Two one-way trips (around $750 in a sedan) usually cost less than keeping the car for nine hours ($1,125).
Several stops: a plant visit, lunch and an office meeting are easiest in one hourly booking, with the car moving you between them.
On the I-10 corridor, an hour and a half of working time each way is the real luxury.
05 LSU game days
A home game in Tiger Stadium changes everything around campus. Roads close, lots fill early, and leaving after the game can take as long as the drive from New Orleans.
For game days, book hourly so the car waits for you, agree a pickup spot away from the stadium crowds in advance, and leave New Orleans early. A Sprinter keeps a group of up to 14 together for the whole day. See sporting event transportation.
